BOOST YOUR LEADERSHIP IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

The Confident Leader would not be possible without the work put in by the team. This week, we are highlighting two more staff favorites.

This Week’s Edition

Our staff went deep into The Confident Leader archives to select the newsletter that was most impactful to them. The newsletters Alex and Chrissy selected are practical and still relevant almost two years after they were originally published. One even has a downloadable cheat sheet! I hope you enjoy them as much as they did.

I Can’t Decide (#14)

Alex Hibbard | Director of Marketing | Robin Pou, Inc.

It can be difficult for leaders to make decisions when they don’t have all the information and their environment is constantly changing. When I read, I Can’t Decide! (#14) in November of 2020, I was overwhelmed by my complex work situation, my ever-evolving role and the big decisions I was making in my personal life.

This newsletter helped me move beyond analysis paralysis. By providing a list of questions, Robin empowered me to overcome my thinking issue and take the right action.

And the best part … I still ask myself these questions today to help me conquer doubt in decision making. The Clarify Your Thinking and Take Action worksheets have helped me resolve conflict with teammates, generate buy-in from my previous product team and make a decision on which house to buy.

Who knew that when I read this newsletter at the end of 2020, I would have joined Robin & team 1.5 years later!

A New “New Year’s Resolution” (#21)

Chrissy Nelli | Summer Intern | Robin Pou, Inc.

I love New Year’s resolutions, but I am not very good at sticking to them. When I read A New “New Year’s Resolution” (#21), I learned why my resolutions, and other personal goals, would dwindle shortly after they were made. And I was inspired to change.

Like many others in my generation, I keep all personal info on my phone, which includes a note file of my goals. I noticed the goals I wanted to achieve the most (which have a star emoji) were not actionable. I had absolutely no plan for how I was going to achieve them.

After reading this newsletter I fully reconstructed my goals. When action is included, goals change from an idea of something great, to a plan to achieve something great. This change in perspective felt like a cheat code! I revamped my goals and started to see a change in my results.

One of my goals changed from “figure out what I want to do” to “figure out what I want to do by reaching out to students/advisors on a weekly basis to learn more about my options and paths”. After changing this goal, I started to act. As a result of many conversations, I am now adding an Executive Leadership & Coaching Certificate to my Maters in Organizational Psychology. This puts me one step closer to figuring out what I want to do.

Boost Your Performance

As their guide to get to the other side, I help leaders find clarity in their thinking and the smartest strategies to achieve their greatest professional vision. Thank you to my team for helping me pursue that mission every day. Thank you to you for reading our newsletter and sharing it with others who are served by the message.

What is “The Confident Leader”?

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, I began a video series called “Panic or Plan?” It was designed to equip leaders to navigate the doubt they experienced and to rise in the confidence they needed to lead during turbulent times. It took off. I then started this newsletter to equip leaders in the same fashion each week for the doubt that crashes across the bow of their leaderSHIP.
